Phantom Blood follows the story of Jonathan Joestar. Nicknamed "JoJo" by his friends and family, he's a kind-hearted boy who aspires to be a true gentleman. Heir to the wealthy Joestar family headed by his father, George Joestar I, Jonathan is a man of honor and courage.

However, his entire world is flipped upside down when his adoptive brother, Dio Brando, moves into the Joestar mansion. As a man of low birth from London, Dio is ambitious and cunning, and seeks nothing more than to make Jonathan miserable so that he can claim the Joestar family fortune for himself.

When Dio's plot to take the Joestar family fortune fails, he dons an ancient Stone Mask and covers it in blood - and thus, the impoverished boy from London had become a ruthless vampire with supernatural abilities.

asdAfter narrowly escaping Dio's grasp and sacrificing his home in an attempt to kill his adoptive brother, Jonathan meets William Anthonio Zeppeli, a practitioner of an ancient martial art known as Hamon, or the Ripple. Hamon makes use of the user's breathing in order to channel an energy akin to the sun's rays, making it the ultimate weapon against vampires and other undead creatures.

Jonathan and William must track down Dio to his new castle in Windknight's Lot, stop him, and destroy the Stone Mask before the world bends to Dio's will!

JONATHAN JOESTAR
Played by: Katsuyuki Konishi
As the heir to the wealthy Joestar family, Jonathan aspires to be a true gentleman. Courageous and strong, Jonathan must learn the ways of Hamon with the help of William Anthonio Zeppeli to save the world from vampiric enslavement.

Fun Fact: Katsuyuki Konishi would return to the JoJo franchise as the voice of Diavolo in the anime adaptation of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind.
DIO BRANDO
Played by: Hikaru Midorikawa
As a man of low birth, Dio is cunning and ambitious, and will stop at nothing to seize power... even if it means rejecting his humanity and embracing vampirism for eternity.

Fun Facts: Phantom Blood was not the first time that Hikaru Midorikawa played the character of Dio; He also portrayed the character in the Phantom Blood video game for the PlayStation 2, which came out on October 26th, 2006.
Some of Hikaru Midorikawa's other prominent roles include Android 16 in Dragon Ball Z, Tenshinhan in Dragon Ball Super, and Garou in One Punch Man, among others.
WILLIAM ANTHONIO ZEPPELI
Played by: Rikiya Koyama
A master of Hamon dedicated to battling evil and destroying the ancient Stone Mask once and for all. Seeing Jonathan's potential as a new Hamon practitioner, he begins to train him in the ancient martial art in an effort to bring Dio down for good.

Fun Facts: The Phantom Blood film was not the first time Rikiya Koyama played the role of William Zeppeli; He also portrayed the character in the Phantom Blood video game for PlayStation 2, which came out on October 26th, 2006.
Koyama is also the official dub-over artist for famous American actors such as George Clooney, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Denzel Washington, and Keanu Reeves.
ERINA PENDLETON
Played by: Nana Mizuki
Jonathan's childhood friend and love interest. While she gives the appearance of a proper lady, she is not afraid to give off a commanding presence, especially when people threaten to harm Jonathan.

Fun Fact: Nana Mizuki has not only been a singer since 2001, but has also performed a number of dub-over roles such as Katniss Everdeen from the Hunger Games films, Carly Shay from iCarly, and most recently, Carol Danvers from Marvel's Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
BRUFORD
Played by: Tôru Nara
A former knight who served under Mary Stuart, the Queen of Scotland, in the 16th century before being executed as per the orders of Queen Elizabeth I. Revived alongside his partner Tarkus as vampiric soldiers by Dio, he uses his unnaturally rigid hair as a makeshift third arm, and wields a sword called "Luck" that he uses in battle.

Fun Fact: Tôru Nara would return to the Jojo franchise in the 2012 anime adaptation, playing the characters of Nukesaku in Stardust Crusaders and Thunder McQueen in Stone Ocean.
WANG CHAN
Played by: Jun Itoda
As an elderly Chinese man in the slums of London, he makes a living by selling illegal items as a black market merchant. However, Dio has other plans for him...

Fun Fact: Jun Itoda is a a comedian, partnered with Kazuhiro Ozawa (Dario Brando) to form the Japanese comedy duo Speed Wagon, named after the popular Jojo's Bizarre Adventure character of the same name.
GEORGE JOESETAR I
Played by: Tsutomu Isobe
A British aristocrat and patriarch of the Joestar family. After thinking that Dario Brando saved his life after his horse carriage had crashed, he adopts Dario's son Dio into his family, hoping to repay his "debt".

Fun Fact: Tsutomu Isobe is most well known as a dub-over artist for famous actors such as Tim Allen, Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford, and Sean Bean.
TARKUS
Played by: Yoshinori Sonobe
A former knight who served under Mary Stuart, the Queen of Scotland, in the 16th century before being executed as per the orders of Queen Elizabeth I. He is revived alongside Bruford by Dio as a vampiric soldier, and is brutal and ruthless beyond compare, having no sense of honor.

Fun Fact: Yoshinori Sonobe played numerous roles in the Pokemon anime series, including Mr. Sukizo in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl and Advanced Generation, as well as Tyson and Blurt from the original 1997 series.
TONPETTY
Played by: Yoshisada Sakaguchi
A wise Hamon master and the mentor of William Anthonio Zeppeli. Posessing the power the predict one's future through Hamon, he warns a young Zeppeli of a great danger that may dictate his fate...

Fun Fact: Yoshisada Sakaguchi was most well known as the dub-over artist for Morgan Freeman, though he had dubbed over many other prominent roles such as Darth Sidious in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Silas Ramsbottom in Despicable Me 3, and Agent K in Men in Black II. He was also a professor at Obirin University.
Sakaguchi unfortunately passed away on February 13th, 2020 at the age of 80.
DARIO BRANDO
Played by: Kazuhiro Ozawa
The alcoholic and abusive father of Dio Brando. After witnessing George Joestar's carriage crash on a stormy night, he begins to loot the wreckage, on the assumption that there were no survivors. When George comes back into consciousness and mistakenly believes that Dario had saved his life, Dario writes a letter to George while on his deathbed requesting that the Joestars adopt Dio.
